For reference, the XFX Wang 6200=18fps, the XFX 6200 Walg=24fps, the 9800 Pro=37fps.

Well, I wouldn't have brought it up if I didn't think it would matter to some Cubers. This is about speed and performance, but reliable - a tricky combo. A 6200 WANG is a lot of things but it isn't a gaming card, the 9700/9800's are. I have spent some time trying a 9700 with red PCB in a Cube with bad results, I don't know why. I'm hoping this version of 9700 has a combination of PCB components that will be more Cube friendly. So far, it acts like it might be a good thing for those wanting more speed than a 6200 and less problems than a 9800. There are not many of us with 9800 experience and I have two Cubes with them, it's a high wire act. I'm sharing my experiences, as they happen.
The other thing is, there are still some for sale at Ebay, but are almost gone. If there are any gamblers out there you better move fast.
How do they match up? I listed some items in my first post, but I'll expand.
The WANG is clocked at 266/350 DDR2, which is sort of misleading - clock speed isn't everything. Memory Bus is 64-bit, 4 Pipeline card.
I flashed this 9700 with a 9800 Pro ROM and then down clocked it to 300/325 DDR. Memory bus is 256-bit, 8 Pipeline card, where the speed comes from.
The WANG is listed as using up to 26w, the 9700 is about 34w.
So far we know a WANG will overheat in a Cube without a fan. I haven't put a 9700 in a Cube yet, but it ran as cool as a 6200 in my Sawtooth, whereas my black 9800 was considerably hotter.
Performancewise, the WANG has Shader 3.0, the 9700 has 2.0 and not as much Core Image support for Leopard.
Gaming, the 9700 is much faster than a WANG. In Halo Time Demo this black 9700 is at least 30-40% faster.
